Mr Wright’s Past Paper Club

When are the sessions?

Each week we work through one full past paper together.
The same paper is taught twice โ€” once on Saturday and once on Monday โ€” so each week, students can choose the time that suits them.

Students attend one session per week.

Past Paper Club is on a break for now, and will be re-starting in February 2026.

Mr Wrightโ€™s past paper club has single handedly saved my Maths GCSE, at the end of year 10 I was on a grade four and now my current working grade is 6/7. The calls have been greatly helpful and have prepared me for every type of question that could come up on the paper, I can now tackle questions I would never dreamed of doing and my confidence has greatly increased. Thank you so much Sir! I recommend to everyone.

I highly recommend Mr. Wrightโ€™s IGCSE Maths tutoring. I was a part of his Past Paper Club and it really helped to boost my confidence and understanding. He explains things clearly, is very supportive, and makes lessons enjoyable and engaging. The past paper club was very helpful in encouraging me to attempt harder questions and made me feel a lot more confident walking into my exams
thanks so much!

FAQs

How do the sessions work?

Each week on zoom, we will complete a Past Paper together. We will work on a few questions at a time, and then we will go through the questions together. As we go through the questions, I will revise the key methods and concepts with you.

Will you covering Higher or Foundation papers?

We will be covering Higher papers. This club for for those entering the Higher tier only.

How do I join a session?

When you book your place, you will receive an email with the meeting link. You will be able to join the meeting by clicking the link. (You do not need to have a Zoom account, or to have downloaded Zoom – you just have to click on the link).

I am doing the Regional Papers – so are these sessions any use to me?

The Regional Papers are alternative papers which the exam board set for those who are living in different time zones. The content of the papers and the style of questions are exactly the same as the UK papers – in fact the two sets of papers are interchangeable – so, yes – these sessions are just right for you too!

I am supposed to have a go at the paper before the session?

No, absolutely not. The idea of the sessions is that we will all work our way through the paper together.

When are the sessions?

Each week, students can attend on the Monday evening or or the Saturday morning, whichever suits them best that week.

Why do I have to commit to all the sessions?

Several reasons for this. There is no doubt that past paper practice is most impactful when it is regular and sustained, and this course is aimed at those who want to commit to get their top grade. What’s more, in the past, parents have said to me that they appreciate having committ at the start, and explaining this to their son / daughter, rather than having to have a weekly discussion about they will attend that week

But what is the sessions simply are not working for my son or daughter?

Firstly, I think this would be very unlikely – but please do raise any issues with me immediately, and I will do all I can to ensure that Past Paper Club is working well for your son or daughter.
But, just in case, I do offer a love-it-or-leave it guarentee – if you would like to withdraw your son or daughter from the sessions after the second week, you may do so, and I will refund for the remaining sessions.

How long will each session last?

About 2 hours (the same amount of time you get for each paper when you sit your exams for real).

Do I have to attend the whole session?

No, absolutely not, though I am sure than many people will. However, if you are targeting a 5 for example, you may want to leave once we have competed the first half of the paper. Alternatively, if you feel confident with the first half of the paper, you may want to join after the first hour. It’s up to you!

How much are the sessions?

The charge for 2025/26, for the live sessions and all the accompanying resources was ยฃ25 per week.

Thank you so much Chris and the Past Paper Club. My daughter, Megan, was really boosted by the Club sessions, entered the exams feeling much more confident, with knowledge and strategies to help tackle the hardest questions. She went from hoping to pass, to gaining a high GRADE 8!!! She was delighted and overwhelmed by the achievement. Your approachable teaching style put her at ease to ask questions and confirm her thought processes, ensuring she was unfazed by any of the questions. Thank you once again.

My son really benefitted from Mr Wright’s Past Paper Club. It’s well organised, easy to access and effective – Mr Wright has thought of everything and is very quick to respond to any questions. He also has a lovely manner and is able to put students at ease right away. It was great for building confidence and improving exam technique as well as helping to spot any gaps in knowledge. He enjoyed Past Paper Club and it was a brilliant way to prepare for GCSE Maths in a supportive and structured way – he ended up with a Grade 9 and is progressing to Maths and Further Maths at ALevel, would 100% recommend. Thanks Chris

The Past Paper Club with Mr Wright is worth every penny. Adding this to her revision schedule was a great decision. She felt more confident after each paper and the sessions helped her in areas that she may have been stuck on while revising at home. In addition the sessions the night before the exam were great to just reinforce the important parts for the exam without stressing her out. I would highly recommend Mr Wright to any child to prep for GCSE.
